DU Alumni Symposium Talk (2008)

On October 3, 2008 I gave a talk entitled "Plumbing the Internet" for the University of Denver Alumni Symposium. The catalog blurb read:

Many of us spend countless hours surfing the web, sending email, and interacting with friends and family using the Internet.  In this presentation, we will discover how common Internet applications actually work under the hood.  When you send an email, how does it know where to go?  When you visit a secure web site, how does your browser know it is trustworthy?  When you chat with friends, how does it work?  Please bring your questions!
